Adele’s – Nashville, TN

There are certain rules I follow when on vacation. One of those rules is to not eat at a restaurant that I could enjoy at home. Nashville, Tennessee is already a destination for good eats with so much to choose from. Adele’s, located in The Gulch neighborhood, is pretty fresh on the scene but with what is coming out of their kitchen it will be hard to keep this place a secret.

Chef Jonathan Waxman brought this award-winning restaurant to life as a tribute to his mother, Adele. With international cooking influences from his mother, Chef Waxman has created a menu with simple dishes supplied with fresh local ingredients. This former Universal Tire Center currently houses an old fashion charcoal grill and a wood burning oven inside an open kitchen to show off the construction of every meal. The large windows allow sunlight to pour into main dining room and garage areas, lighting the exposed brick and bowstring ceiling structure. Adele’s also has a sizable bar area.

Okay let’s cut to the chase, the food. I had the Adele’s Hamburger topped with vidalia onions with buttermilk cheddar cheese melted over, ordered medium well and cooked to perfection. My wife had the Chicken Salad Sandwich that included pulled chicken, walnuts, and grapes on a brioche bun. We shared the JW Potatoes that were deep fried and sprinkled with rosemary and grana padano cheese. We also had to take the opportunity to experience one of Adele’s marquee meals, the JW Chicken. This dish features a tender and moist half chicken roasted in the wood burning oven and graciously covered in a Verde seasoning and drizzled with olive oil. The Verde seasoning is compiled of garlic, oregano, parsley, chili flakes and more.

This was definitely one of the best meals of our trip. If you are looking for an American style menu that’s full of flavor and an atmosphere that is full of heart Adele’s needs to be on your radar when you are in the Nashville area. Chef Jonathan Waxman also has restaurant in New York City called, Barbuto, that you may recognize from the silver screen in the movie Trainwreck.
